Frequently asked questions

There is no such thing as a silly question! If you are unsure of anything, you might be able to find the answer below, otherwise don't hesitate to give us a call during opening hours or, send us a message using our Contact Us form

1. Do I need to book in advance to attend a play session?

Yes, we highly recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred play session —particularly during weekends and holidays.

That said, we also offer a lovely courtyard garden which is open for walk-ins. If you’re joining us just for coffee or food and not using the play area, there’s no need to book and no entrance fee—simply drop in and enjoy the space.

2. Can I change my play session slot?

Yes—rescheduling your session is simple and completely fuss-free. You can manage your booking directly via the ‘Manage Booking’ link in your confirmation email.

Changes can be made up to 24 hours before your scheduled play session, subject to availability. If you need to cancel your booking, please send us  a message via the contact us page.

3. Do adults need to pay to enter?

Our play session pricing includes one free adult, then additional adults are £2.50 (plus booking fee) If you’re joining us just for coffee or food in the courtyard garden, there is no entrance fee.

4. How long does a play session last?

During weekdays each play session lasts 90 minutes and on weekends 2 hours, giving you plenty of time to settle in, enjoy the space, and relax over food and drinks without feeling rushed.

5. What sort of food do you serve?

Our menu has been carefully curated to offer a balance of wholesome, nourishing dishes alongside a selection of more indulgent options—so there’s something to suit every mood and moment!

We prioritise fresh, high-quality ingredients and work closely with local suppliers wherever possible. From our brunch plates to our little ones’ menu, everything is designed with both flavour and nutrition in mind.

We’re also mindful of the growing awareness around what we feed our children. That’s why we make every effort to limit ultra-processed foods, with only around 10% of our ingredients containing UPFs. We hope our menu reflects a thoughtful, modern approach to family dining—without compromising on enjoyment.

6. Can I pre-order my food?

We do offer the option to pre-order selected items when you book your play session; meaning once you have checked in, all you need to do is sit back and relax!

When you arrive and check in, our team will confirm your order with you at the desk, and you’re very welcome to add additional dishes or drinks at that point. This allows for a relaxed, flexible experience tailored to how you’re feeling on the day.

7. Are you allergy-friendly?

We take allergies and dietary requirements seriously and offer a range of options to suit different needs. Please speak to a member of our team before ordering so we can guide you safely through the menu.

8. Can I bring my own food or drinks?

To maintain the quality and consistency of our offering, we kindly ask that food and drinks are not brought in from outside.

The exception to this is baby food, formula, or specific dietary requirements, where we completely understand the need to bring your own. If you’re unsure, please feel free to speak to a member of our team—we’re always happy to help.

9. Is my child required to wear socks?

Yes, for hygiene and safety, all children (and adults entering the play area) are required to wear socks. If you happen to forget, socks are available to purchase on-site.

10. What age range is the play area suitable for?

We offer two dedicated play zones: our Quayside pretend play area for children aged 0–5, and our calm, cosy Baby Lounge designed specifically for those aged 0–24 months.

When booking your session, you’ll be able to choose where you’d prefer to be seated. You’re also welcome to move between both areas during your visit, depending on your child’s age and stage—allowing flexibility as they explore and play.

11. What should we bring with us?

Just yourselves (and socks!). We’ve created a space where everything else is taken care of, from spare nappies and wipes to disposable bibs and toddler cutlery, so you can focus on enjoying time together.

12. Do you host parties?

We’re currently developing our party and events offering and are excited to share more soon. A dedicated page with full details will be added to our website shortly—watch this space.

13. Is there parking available?

There is plenty of free nearby parking available around the quay and Mistley High Street making your visit as convenient as possible. Full details and directions can be found on our contact page.

14. Are you dog friendly?

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome to join you in our courtyard garden, where you can relax and enjoy your visit together.

However, for hygiene and safety reasons, we’re unable to permit dogs (the exception to this is of course service dogs) inside the main café and play areas. We appreciate your understanding in helping us maintain a clean and safe environment for all of our little guests.
