Our Favourite Things to Do With Kids in Mistley and Manningtree, Essex

Start With a Riverside Stroll

There's something really special about the view over the river stour from Manningtree Walls and Mistley Quay (in fact, we love it so much we even created a whole event around it, our monthly Rise & Stroll!)

It's one of our favourite places for a walk, and it's perfect for toddlers who need to burn off some energy before lunch. The route is also relatively flat, making it perfect for babies in prams and toddlers who want to practise their walking.

You can turn it into a mini adventure by following the river towards Mistley Walls Beauty Spot, stopping to watch the infamous swans crossing the road, or boat watching. On warmer days, why not stop off at Manningtree Beach for a paddle? There is even a selection of beach toys for the little ones to borrow which is so handy!

Visit 'Old Knobbley'

Every local child should visit 'Old Knobbley' at least once.

This enormous ancient oak tree has been standing for centuries and is the perfect destination for a family walk. Sometimes, a walk through the woods with a handful of leaves, a few conkers and plenty of puddles can easily become the highlight of the day.
